Akle

Akle is a Philippines native hardwood, at 3 ft tall. I planted this tree 2 years ago around 2019. You can also see in the photo, I cover the base with banana leaves to keep the moisture in the soil, at the same time prevent the growth of weeds around the base.

You can also see a hose sprinkler installed at the base. When the trees are planted young, I added this support to prevent them from dying during the hot summer months. When they grow around 5 feet tall and higher, I can remove these sprinklers and transfer it to younger trees.

During raining season, I do not turn on these sprinklers. During the summer month, we turn this on maybe 2 or 3x a week.

Older trees, 5 feet or higher, have developed deeper roots and will not need this support anymore. But I still visit each once a month to make sure they are ok.
